The beginning of the season

Functional training was a fun class filled intervals of moderate levels of aerobic intensity (jumping jacks, burpees, frog jumps) and weights. I think the class is good for improving my agility but I barely broke a sweat!? I decided to run on the treadmill for 40 minutes at a fat burning pace. It was a very sloooooow 3 miles but the kicker was the hills. 3 minutes each  at 3, 4, 5, and 6 level incline repeat for for at total of 40minutes.

By the time I got home for lunch all I really wanted was something simple.

A veggie burger on a bed of lettuce with carrot, chipotle hummus, and multi grain flax crackers. No salad dressing just a little mustard drizzled on the veg burger. Love me mustard!

Dessert was a fuzzy kiwi, skin and all.

After lunch I went shopping…and found an awesome sweater at the Gap for 13 bucks! I also visited two paint stores and picked up a ton I mean A TON of color swatches. After applying a small sample of grey from the other day I decided it’s too light and industrial like.

Dinner was open faced burrito

Refried beans, sautéed kobocha squash {a first for me}, lettuce, and a dab of chipotle hummus, and guac. The only thing missing was hot sauce, we seem to be out of stock. Can you imagine the horror? I’ve heard so much good things about kobocha squash on other blogs but have never been able to find it. Whole Foods happened to have it and it was on sale for $1.49# It was very goooood. It’s like a mix of pumpkin and sweat potato.

Must get hot sauce today!!!

Mr. Apron and I had plans to grab a beer and watch a show after dinner.

His: Flat 12 upside down blonde

Hers: Fountain square pale ale

I am by no means a beer connoisseur but I think my beer was a little too strong for me. The hubs’ flat 12 was a little more pleasing to my palette, sweat and smooth.

After  drinks we went to Clowes Hall and watched The Little Apron sing with the Butler Ballet.

Pre-game warm up

Thanks for all the kind comments yesterday.

According to my training schedule Sunday was supposed to be a rest day but I felt like getting in some hot yoga. I went to a 12:45 class entitled “Pre-game warm up flow”. It was 75 minutes of pure bliss. It’s so nice to get away in the middle of day and do something for yourself. After class I took a short walk to Good Earth and grabbed a Kombucha. It felt like 40 degrees outside which is a heck of a lot better than the chilly 20’s we’ve been having lately.

I snapped a few photos on the way.

The gingerberry flavor was nice and light on the stomach but not very effervescent. I miss the original formula 😦

Once I got home I took a quick shower and put a few finishing touches on the buffalo chicken dip and lemon cakes.

I think I scored big points with the hubs and his buds on this one.

Recipes coming soon.

My co-worker and friend Joules brought these fudgy football shaped brownies.

Not just any brownie but Nutella frosted brownies! I think I may have started something.

 We look-alike, no?

We had a great time watching the game and commercials but the half-time was show was the best part. The  Black Eyed Peas did an amazing  job, Fergie rocked the shoulder pads, she was Fergalicious. The BEP’s will always a have a spot on my playlist, great running music. I had a sampling of foods throughout the night, waaaaay too much I’m sure. One of my favorite dishes besides the brownies was Cassie’s spinach artichoke dip.

Spinach, artichokes, cream cheese and parmesan cheese, what’s not to love.

To wash down the pizza and spicy buffalo dip, Leinenkugel Berry Weiss. Hints of blackberry and elderberry make for a nice girly beer or dessert drink.

Two parties in two days equals one tired girl. I’m ready to get back on track and do what I do best, eat well, run, yoga, and sleep…atleast until the next party or holiday of course.
