Do you see what I see…

Happy Friday!

Another week down, another weekend to look forward to. I woke up this morning with the intent on having pancakes for breakfast but changed my mind after I assessed my hunger level.

Before deciding on breakfast I try to take into consideration, my hunger level, my work out, lunch time, and dinner plans. Since I knew I’d be hitting the gym in less than two hours, I decided on a small bowl of cereal with lots of fruit. Don’t you just love winter fruit! I picked up a couple of pears and 1 pomegranate at Whole Foods during one of my quick frequent stops. The grocery store to me is like a playground. I could walk around it for hours checking out all the wonderful interesting things I’ve never tried.

Do you see what I see?

pom arils

pears

ancient grain cereal

strawberry yogurt

almond butter

almond milk

I also woke up having a hard time deciding on what kind of work out I wanted to do! What’s wrong with me? I’m so indecisive today.

My options are:

Yoga? Running? Weights? or Cardio kickboxing?

I would do all of them If I had the time! But instead I decided on weights and cardio kickboxing.

Two out of four isn’t bad.

Have a great day, whatever you decide to do Smile

The beginning of the season

Functional training was a fun class filled intervals of moderate levels of aerobic intensity (jumping jacks, burpees, frog jumps) and weights. I think the class is good for improving my agility but I barely broke a sweat!? I decided to run on the treadmill for 40 minutes at a fat burning pace. It was a very sloooooow 3 miles but the kicker was the hills. 3 minutes each  at 3, 4, 5, and 6 level incline repeat for for at total of 40minutes.

By the time I got home for lunch all I really wanted was something simple.

lb

A veggie burger on a bed of lettuce with carrot, chipotle hummus, and multi grain flax crackers. No salad dressing just a little mustard drizzled on the veg burger. Love me mustard!

Dessert was a fuzzy kiwi, skin and all.

After lunch I went shopping…and found an awesome sweater at the Gap for 13 bucks! I also visited two paint stores and picked up a ton I mean A TON of color swatches. After applying a small sample of grey from the other day I decided it’s too light and industrial like.

Dinner was open faced burrito

Refried beans, sautéed kobocha squash {a first for me}, lettuce, and a dab of chipotle hummus, and guac. The only thing missing was hot sauce, we seem to be out of stock. Can you imagine the horror? I’ve heard so much good things about kobocha squash on other blogs but have never been able to find it. Whole Foods happened to have it and it was on sale for $1.49# It was very goooood. It’s like a mix of pumpkin and sweat potato.

Must get hot sauce today!!!

Mr. Apron and I had plans to grab a beer and watch a show after dinner.

b1

His: Flat 12 upside down blonde

Hers: Fountain square pale ale

I am by no means a beer connoisseur but I think my beer was a little too strong for me. The hubs’ flat 12 was a little more pleasing to my palette, sweat and smooth.

After  drinks we went to Clowes Hall and watched The Little Apron sing with the Butler Ballet.

Sweet and Spicy Toasty

Last night after work I went for another walk! It was colder then the previous night but the walked seemed shorter. I took my phone with me and talked to my good friend Joyce along the way playing catch up. She is currently buying a home and today is her Birthday.

Happy Birthday Joyce!!!Birthday cake

Don’t you just love friends that make you smile.

For dinner I had [drum role please] a…..SMOOTHIE. Yes it was cold, yes I’m crazy but hey I like them. They have just the right amount of sweetness to make it a dinner and dessert.

sm1

  • Plain non-fat Greek yogurt
  • Soy protein
  • Almond milk
  • Mango
  • Spinach
  • Topped with 1/2 nanner, bnpb and Kashi pumpkin spice flax

Thanks to Mr. Apron I woke at 4:30 AM to a blaring alarm clock playing some crazy random song, . Being woken up to a song has a weird effect on me, I much prefer the buzzard. I was able to fall back asleep until 6:15.

This mornings fuel was a sweet and spicy toast combo.

toast

fig jam (sweet) jalapeno jam (spicy)
banana banana
kashi kashi
cinnamon turmeric
bnpb (sweet) real peanut butter (savory)

Oh! I forgot to mention the bread was Sprouted rye from Trader Joes.

On my way to the YMCA for a functional training class, it’s a mix of weights and cardio activities that mimic everyday activities. Such a lifting groceries or kids, squatting to pick something up, or reaching. In my case at 4’11’’ I definitely have some reaching.

Happy Thursday!
